Messagepar cineman » Lun 19 Fév 2007 à 13:37

Hello all. On 14-02-07 i finally got my car :D , i'm living the dream...
I found it on the list on dmcnews. The car was in Connecticut, i imported it to Italy in about 1 month. The car is in good aestetic condicions, exterior and interior. Mecanically also is good, it start with no problem and i tried it a bit during last days. However now i begin to disassemble it for clean all the dirty of 26 years...The last owners was quite interested in the car, he keep all the bills of the works, he had many manuals, tecnichal, parts etc and he did some little work and upgrade, but maybe he didnt clean it very well :D. The car has 35.800 miles on it. With the car i receive some parts, filter, new speakers, cables etc. I put the link of our new forum, you can see the photos of my initial work in it. Is all in italian, but if you want to ask me question about the work i write here for you.

The car was 18K dollars, wich was 14K euros when i paid it. Then you have to add the shipment (about 1200 euros) and the italian taxes :( (30% of the declared value of the item :( ). Total about 18K euros, wich is a good price for a running car, here in europe. In the end i have a good car, for a nice price, and i had the big choice to search in the usa the model i was looking for. If i had searched in europe a car like this it could be difficult.

I would like also to thank you all, everybody, because your comunity is great and there are many people which dont have fear to put their hand in the car :D . your all job will be very helpfull to all...

You made the good choice, in France, taxes reach 40 % of the car's price !

thank you all.

today i controlled the fuel pump, it was very clean, i found no corrosion or deposit at all so it confirmed that the car was quite used and good manteined. When i'll remove all the other dirty i'll begin to reassemble the interior with the cleaned moquette in the next days, then i'll begin the burocracy for the license plate

i was looking in your homepage the france owners, i see that mickealkeal has a VIN very very close to mine! He is 1745 and mine is 1748... :D surely built the same day, maybe by the same persons...
I also see that he has the dark grey wheel, instead mine has light grey. I know that Delorean begin to use light grey from about vin 1800... i dont know if the first owner of my car change the wheel, but it will be strange, however i dont know :? ...

A little thing that may help someone.
My RPM relay was very sensible to interferences and not good electrical contact so every time i turned the key in 2nd position it engaged itself 2-3 times before stop, and this, with my rpm relay meant that the Fuel pump runs at the beginning too long.
Also, when i tried to disconnect the cable of the WUR (or CPR ^^ ) wich is also connected to the rpm relay, when i turned in 2nd position the relay continued to click without stop.
I have resolved the problem in this way: in the electronic schematic of the rpm relay there is a zener diode wich stabilize the power supply for the 555 timer, making it less open to the interferences. But in the schematic there is also a capacitor connected with the zener, and my RPM relay didnt have nothing like that. I soldered a 100nf capacitor (the yellow rectangular) directly on the zener diode and this added more protection again the voltage spikes etc and now the RPM works fine :)
If some have a similar problem, and need a better photos let me know.
